Some people were in strange moods during March 1970.
It had to be spring fever — a woman wore a cake on her head, 13 boys climbed a large tree, young women danced in medieval dress and teenagers took over county government.
Paige Gauvreau wore the “cake,” an elaborate hat that won an award at the Schenectady Light Opera Co.’s “funny hat” party. Others at the Woodlin Club bash wore swim caps, feathers, ducks and glitter for their fashion statements.
The kids in the tree were part of a photo stunt. Photographer Ed Schultz shot art for a story promoting National Boys’ Club Week, and persuaded 13 boys from the Schenectady, Rotterdam and Carman outfits to hang out on the limbs.
