The first-ever Pooch Pageant was held Sunday at the Amsterdam Riverfront Center, sponsored by the Montgomery County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. About three dozen owners and their pets strutted their stuff to the delight of onlookers. All proceeds from the event will benefit the homeless animals of the MCSPCA Animal Shelter. Canine pageant participants were judged in three categories: Grand Supreme, People/Pup Look-A-Like, and People's Choice.
