Union bows in opener, but banners go up

Before taking on Merrimack Saturday night at Messa Rink, Union College hoisted banners for winning the ECAC Hockey regular season and tournament titles last season as well as reaching the NCAA Tournament and advancing to the NCAA Frozen Four. The Dutchmen then bowed, 4-1, to the visitors from North Andover, Mass., in their season opener, before a crowd of just over 2,000.
