Bruce Pause of Schenectady remembers autumn baseball at Mont Pleasant High School.
“During your study hall period, you could go down to the auditorium,” Pause said. “They had a TV set up on the stage. You could sit and watch the World Series. Back then, the World Series was always during the day.”
“Back then” was the early 1960s. Petta’s Kitchen on Duane Avenue, Johnnie DeMarco’s Original Pizzeria on Michigan Avenue, drive-in theaters and house parties were among top diversions for members of Mont Pleasant’s Class of 1962.
The class will gather for its 50th anniversary reunion on Friday, Oct. 19 and Saturday, Oct. 20. The first night will be an informal get-together at Petta’s. The Saturday dinner and dance will be held at Mallozzi’s in Rotterdam.
