Roy E. Anderson of GE, William Jones, a GE engineer from Syracuse, and George Fancher, an Albany-based representative from American Telegraph and Telephone (left to right), discuss the 500,000-mile long-distance telephone call to the moon they helped put together in 1961. The guys are standing next to a “scanner” that allowed the GE observatory in Rotterdam to receive the message from the moon.
