The backstretch area of the Saratoga Race Course is open for tours. Visitors will see what life is like behind the scenes for thoroughbreds and their companion animals, owners and workers.
As part of their morning routine, horses are exercised, bathed, groomed and then walked back to their stalls.
The tours draw a lot of people, and the guides are very attentive and answer the questions of young and old alike.
A celebrity — 2003 Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner Funny Cide — was spotted making his way to the track. His rider graciously agreed to pose for photographs.
Jockeys come off the Clare’s Court area, one of the historic practice tracks. Buried at Claire Court are Fourstardave, Mourjane and A Phenomenon.
