The Adelphi Hotel
The front lobby of the Adelphi, with its Victorian theme, attracts visitors throughout the day, not just hotel guests.
Adelphi Hotel owner Sheila Parkert sits in the hotel’s upstairs lounge area, which leads directly to its piazza. She and her late husband bought the then-dilapidated property in 1979, first renovating the bar that funded the refurbishing of the guest rooms.
Parkert stands at the Adelphi’s second-story piazza, a large upstairs porch that overlooks Broadway.
For 13 years, friends, from left, Mary Grande, Patty Nestola and Julie Derkatch have made an annual summer trek from Long Island to Saratoga Springs to stay at the Adelphi Hotel and to visit the Saratoga Race Course. Here, after arriving for their 2008 visit, they relax in the hotel’s outdoor courtyard.
