A mock Driving While Intoxicated vehicle accident extrication exercise was held Friday morning at the Waterford Halfmoon High School for 11th and 12th grade students. The exercise coincided with the High School Prom which was held on Friday evening.
The exercise opened in the auditorium with a skit of a party with underage participants drinking alcohol. A bad choice was made by a student driver, who drinks and then drives away from the party. An accident happens, and calls go out to Police, Fire and EMS where a two car accident was staged with injuries. The driver, who is not injured, was arrested for DWI. The Waterford Fire Department did an on-scene extrication. Upon completion of the accident, a mock trial was held with the assistance of Waterford Town Justice and the Saratoga County District’s Office.
