Members of a Chinese Buddhist organization arrived back in the U.S.A. after a trip to the Orient this weekend and found trees and a barricade blocking part of Shrine Road that leads to the Jesuit Retreat House the group purchased from the Shrine of Our Lady of Martyrs back in 2006.Shrine officials could not be reached for input Monday - but the site's attorney said the Buddhists were warned several times that they'd agreed to build their own access to the retreat house. The group built a narrow, stone-filled path from Ripley Road up to the facility, but they fear it's inaccessible both to emergency vehicles and mail carriers and likely unknown to any visitors.
