For years, industrial sites that once fueled the city’s economy have sat idle and deteriorating in and around residential areas. Now, the brownfields are presenting an opportunity for residents to re-invent their neighborhoods.
Don Reilly, a Marine Helper on the NYS Canal Corp. Gov. Cleveland tug boat, throws a bowline as well as any cowboy, while passing through Lock 12 in Fort Hunter on Tuesday afternoon. The boat was heading to Lock 18 to bring back a hydraulic dredge barge to Waterford.The tug, Governor Cleveland was aquired by the New York State Canal Corp as an ice-breaking tug in 1927. She originally had a steam engine, but was later converted to diesel power.
