Emil Johnson’s father spent decades battling the railway giant CSX Transportation for the right to build a crossing over their Mohawk Subdivision line in Montgomery County, which cut off a sizable portion of his 220-acre farm in Fort Plain from the time he bought it in 1961 to his death in 1987.
