Authorities: Cohoes woman set clothes on fire, damaged car

— A woman broke into a city apartment and set fire to articles of clothing and damaged a car with fire earlier this month, authorities said.

Ekaterina Yankowski, 25, of Cohoes, faces one count each of second-degree burglary, third-degree arson and second-degree criminal mischief, all felonies.

Yankowski is accused of breaking into the Queen Drive apartment just after 11 a.m. Sept. 2 and setting fire to clothing, according to court paperwork.

She is also accused of causing extensive damage to the victim’s car by igniting a shoebox inside, according to papers. Paperwork identifies the owner of the car as Yankowski’s ex-boyfriend.

Yankowski also faces one count each of fifth-degree arson and fourth-degree criminal mischief related to the clothing, according to papers.
