A day after the sixth-seeded Voorheesville Blackbirds one-hit No. 3 Hoosick Falls, they got a no-hitter from Nick Chiseri to beat No. 2 Chatham in the Section II Class B semifinals Saturday, 5-2.

The no-hitter is Chiseri’s second in as many starts. He struck out eight in the win.

The Blackbirds won the Class C title last season and advanced to the state semifinals. This will be their third consecutive sectional championship game, though the first of those was in Class B. They will play No. 5 Fonda-Fultonville, a 10-0 winner over top-seeded Corinth, on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

All sectional finals will take place at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium.

Jared Paigo led the offensive attack with a three-run double in the third inning for Voorheesville. He scored on Dalton Esposito’s groundout. Alex Minnick’s RBI single in the sixth inning was the third consecutive single in the frame for the Blackbirds.

Chatham’s Steve Munson drove in a run with a sacrifice fly in the fourth. Caleb Gregg walked, stole two bases and scored on a throwing error in the sixth.

In Class A, No. 7 Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake beat No. 3 Lansingburgh, 9-1. Aaron Delano had three hits and three RBI for the 12-9 Spartans; Josh Quesada had a double, single and two RBI; and Danny Maynard tripled, singled and drove in a run.

Lansingburgh got two hits from Tyler McDonough.

The Spartans will play No. 8 Averill Park, an 8-7 winner over No. 5 Amsterdam, on Friday at 4 p.m.

Averill Park saw an 8-3 lead nearly evaporate as Amsterdam scored two in the home sixth and another two in the seventh, but the Warriors held on for the win.

Brent Jones hit a three-run double for Averill Park. Amsterdam’s Anthony Noce doubled, pushed two runs across and drew three of the Rams’ 10 walks.

Hoosic Valley, the No. 5 seed, will face No. 6 Maple Hill for the Class C crown on Thursday at 7 p.m. Hoosic Valley ousted top-seeded Rensselaer, 12-1.

J.T. Sawyer was 4-for-4 with a double, a home run and four RBI for Hoosic Valley (19-3). Jared Morello singled twice, and John Rooney added a single and two triples.

Maple Hill beat No. 7 Galway, 3-2.

Defending state Class D champion and top seed Fort Ann eliminated No. 4 Mekeel Christian Academy, 9-2, and will face No. 3 Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville in Friday’s 4 p.m. final.

OESJ beat No. 2 Loudonville Christian School, 9-2. The Wolves (13-6) got three singles and a double from Dylan Klock, while Payten Johnson and Nick D’Antonino both had a single and a double. Brad Smith and Joe D’Antonino both had two hits.
