— An Albany man pleaded guilty Thursday to a child pornography charge that could land him in prison for the next five to 20 years.

Paul Scrom, 63, also faces a fine of up to $250,000, lifetime supervision after release and mandatory registration as a sex offender. He will be sentenced Oct. 14 by Senior United States District Judge Thomas J. McAvoy.

On Sept. 12, federal investigators searched his residence and recovered numerous images and videos depicting child pornography. As part of his guilty plea Thursday to a single count of distribution of child pornography, he admitted that he distributed obscene images and movies through a peer-to-peer file sharing program.
