Amsterdam firefighters and paramedics attend to a man injured in front of 321 E. Main St. after he was seen jumping onto the back of a moving truck, then falling to the ground.

— A man who fell off the back of a slow-moving 18-wheeler Wednesday evening was sent to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Amsterdam police said.

Officer Robert Caputo said the incident occurred around 5:15 p.m. at the corner of East Main Street and Vrooman Avenue.

Police are investigating why the man was on the back of a moving tractor-trailer, he said.

“It wasn’t going extremely fast when he fell off it,” Caputo said. “The truck was within city limits and wasn’t going faster than 20 or 30 mph.”

The man received minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital.

Police had few other details Wednesday night.
