A California cell biologist received one of the richest prizes in medical and scientific research during a ceremony in upstate New York. Alexander Varshavsky received the $500,000 Albany Medical Center Prize in Medicine and Biomedical Research at a ceremony at the Hilton Garden Inn Albany Medical Center on Wednesday.
