KINGSBURY — Authorities say two people are dead after they apparently were hit by a train in northeastern New York.
Senior Investigator Bruce Hamilton of the Washington County Sheriff's Office tells The Associated Press Monday morning that the bodies were found around 7:30 p.m. Sunday along the railroad tracks near an overpass on Route 196 in the town of Kingsbury, 50 miles north of Albany.
Officials say they believe the victims may have been struck by a passing train. Their bodies have been removed from the scene for autopsies.
Hamilton says investigators with the Canadian Pacific Railway and Amtrak are also involved with the investigation. He says CP freight trains and Amtrak passenger trains use the tracks where the bodies were found.
The victims' names haven't been released.
