Astorino to add local endorsements Friday
SCOTIA Rob Astorino will be in Scotia on Friday to receive endorsements from Capital Region legislators and local officials in his race for governor.
Assemblyman Jim Tedisco, R-Glenville, invited Astorino to speak at his annual spring breakfast at 8 a.m. Friday at the Glen Sanders Mansion. State Sens. Hugh Farley, R-Niskayuna, and Kathy Marchione, R-Halfmoon, are expected to attend, as is state Senate candidate and former assemblyman George Amedore.
Astorino and his recently named running mate, Chemung County Sheriff Chris Moss, are expected to receive official nominations today from state Republicans at the GOP Convention in Westchester County.
Other guests who plan to make an appearance Friday include Assembly candidates Steve Stallmer, a Saratoga Springs resident who previously served as U.S. Rep. Chris Gibson’s top aide, and Montgomery County Undersheriff Peter Vroman, who is challenging incumbent Angelo Santabarbara, D-Rotterdam.
This is not Astorino’s first visit to the Capital Region; he spoke last month at the Pine Tree Rifle Club in Johnstown to a group of more than 50 Fulton County residents.
He is a vocal opponent of the state’s year-old gun control law, the NY SAFE Act. He has also spoken out against the Common Core learning standards and has knocked Gov. Andrew Cuomo for his business tax incentive program, START-UP NY.
Astorino was recently elected for a second term as Westchester County executive. The majority of voters in the county, which is also the home of Cuomo, are enrolled as Democrats.
Tickets are $50 per person and $90 per couple. People interested in attending the event can call 377-9818 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. More than 200 people are expected to attend.
