Writer grateful for help while husband was having stroke

On March 5, I was driving with my husband down Central Avenue and onto Wolf Road when I realized something was wrong with my husband.

I made a quick turn onto Computer Drive and into the parking lot of the M&T Bank building. I could not use my cell phone because my husband was leaning on me, so I cried out for help.

A young man wearing a hardhat came over to me and called 911, and then he said to me: “My name is Patrick, and I will stay with you until help arrives.” In a second, his co-worker approached and witnessed what was happening. He then went to the street to direct the ambulance to us.

I tried to locate Patrick and the co-worker, but I could not. I wanted you both to know how thankful I was. I am hoping this letter to the editor will let you know.

Also, thank you to Susan Anderson Touhey for her kindness and Diane Curtiss for hers. I was told she closed her business and followed my car down Central Avenue.

I was overwhelmed; not only did you care for my husband, who suffered a massive stroke, but you all were concerned about me, also.

Thank you for the quick response and kindnesses given by the Colonie Emergency Medical Services. There is not a day that goes by that I don't think of this sad day, but I begin to feel better remembering how kind you all were.

Update: Gus is beginning to speak and now has feeling on the right side of his body.
