Baseball: Warzek limits Streaks to one hit

Shenendehowa erupted for six runs in the third inning and blanked Saratoga Springs, 7-0, in a Suburban Council baseball game Monday at East Side Recreation.

Connor Douglas doubled and singled for the Plainsmen, while Bryan Warzek tossed a one-hit shutout, striking out three. Brandon Pearson added a two-run single.

Columbia beat Mohonasen, 6-1, behind Codey Piel’s two-run homer.

Cristian Garcia brought three runs home with a triple and a double, and Austin Hermann doubled and singled twice to lift Bethlehem (4-10, 7-11) over Averill Park, 8-1.

Nick Demarco picked up the save by getting the final out with runners on second and third as Shaker edged Niskayuna, 4-3.

Niko Caladim’s sacrifice fly in the sixth inning broke the tie, while Tom Kovacs singled twice for the 9-5, 12-6 Blue Bison. Niskayuna (9-5, 10-5) was led by Taylor Parks with a pair of singles.

Zach Gallagher had three RBI and two hits, and Kyle Ruth plated two runs with a pair of doubles to help Colonie (5-9) beat Guilderland, 9-8, in eight innings.

Kyrek Osterhout’s RBI single in the eighth was the difference for the Garnet Raiders.

In the Big 10, three pitchers combined on a no-hitter as Amsterdam blanked Catholic Central, 15-0.

Julian Gallup extended his streak without giving up an earned run to 19 innings for the Rams (8-5, 10-5). Kolbie Gilonna was 3-for-3 with a home run; Brady McGillin added a double, single and two RBI; and both Ben Rhodes and Bryan Stanavich singled twice for Amsterdam.

LaSalle (9-5) clipped Troy (11-2), 5-4, behind three hits from Nick Jacques.

In the Foothills Council, Broadalbin-Perth scored three times in the first inning and held off Gloversville, 6-4, to qualify for the sectionals.

Noah Martin homered among his two hits, and Brett Getman and Joe Zarecki also contributed a pair of hits for the Patriots.

Connor Rodecker plated two runs with a pair of singles, and Ryan Otti doubled to help Johnstown edge Scotia-Glenville, 4-3.

Steve Forker added two hits for the 9-4, 10-6 Sir Bills. Dan Zeglen doubled and singled for the 10-3 Tartans.

Queensbury pounded out 17 hits and beat Glens Falls, 12-1.

Kyle Chambers had three hits and two RBI, Eric Daley also had three hits, and both Hunter Scott and Brett Rodriguez plated two runs for the Spartans.

Kristian Singh struck out 10 and fired a three-hit shutout to lead Voorheesville past Watervliet, 5-0, in the Colonial Council.

Zach Sierra doubled for the Cannoneers.

Eric Woods went 2-for-3 with a double, and Trevor Francesconi also doubled in Albany Academy’s 7-1 win over Cobleskill-Richmondville.

The Cadets are 10-3 and 12-3, while the Bulldogs fall to 3-9 and 3-11.

Connor McDonough had three hits and scored three times, while Noah Cipperly and Tyler McDonough each homered to carry Lansingburgh (11-4) over Cohoes, 12-6.

Kevin Napier and Max Carey each homered for the Tigers.

Nico Dumas went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles, C.J. Tironi also had two hits, and Noah Harpe went the distance on the mound, striking out 10, as Mechanicville topped Ichabod Crane, 10-3.

Ben Manna (two singles, double) and Tyler Goergen (three singles) each had three hits to pace a 15-hit attack as Galway downed Mayfield, 12-5, in the Western Athletic Conference.

Brad Smith scattered four hits, striking out 13, as Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville defeated Canajoharie, 7-4.

OESJ scored five times in the fifth. Dylan Klock and Payten Johnson each doubled and tripled for OESJ (8-5, 9-6), which also got two hits apiece from Nick D’Antonio and John Vicciarelli. Buck Anderson rippled a pair of doubles and drove in three for the Cougars (6-7, 7-7).

Cory DePeaux (two doubles, single, three RBI) and Maclin Norray (double, single, three RBI) lifted Berne-Knox-Westerlo over Duanesburg, 11-6.

Norray also struck out 10 for the 5-8 Bulldogs. Shane Barberis went 3-for-4, and Alan Baum went 2-for-2 to lead the Eagles.

In the Wasaren League, Stillwater topped Hoosick Falls, 11-3, to improve to 6-7 and draw closer to a berth in the sectionals.

Jake Hill had two hits and three RBI, Tim Travis went 3-for-3 with two RBI and Zach Baldwin doubled and plated two runs for the Warriors.

John Rooney struck out 11 during a three-hit shutout and belted a double, and Alex Carlo ripped a two-run double in Hoosic Valley’s 4-0 win over Schuylerville.

The Indians are 11-2 and 16-3. Schuylerville slips to 10-2 and 13-2.

In the Central Hudson Valley League, Waterford-Halfmoon slipped past New Lebanon, 12-11, in the eighth inning.

Billy Martin went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, and both Kyle Hotaling and Jeff Roylance chipped in with two hits for the Fordians.
