Baseball: Patriots post 4-3 non-league win

Jeremy Bernacet doubled twice and Zach Schellenger drove in two runs for Schenectady in a 4-3 non-league win over Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake on Thursday.

The Patriots improved to 10-6 overall.

Burnt Hills (9-6) got two hits and an RBI from Garrett Snyder. Aaron Delano also had two hits.

Fort Plan’s Jesse Heroth drove in two runs on two singles, scored once and stole two bags as the Hilltoppers topped Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville, 8-4, in the Western Athletic Conference. Drew Fureno added a double, an RBI, two runs and two stolen bases for the Hilltoppers (11-0, 12-0). Fort Plain will play a double-header Monday at Saratoga Central Catholic. Both teams are undefeated in the WAC.

OESJ (7-5, 8-6) was led by Brad Smith with two hits and three RBI. Devon Battisti had two hits, an RBI and a run, while Jonny Vicciarelli doubled and scored twice.

Zach Ouderkirk was 3-for-4 with a solo homer and two RBI for Canajoharie (5-6, 6-6) in a 15-3 win over Duanesburg (2-7, 2-11). Zach Ruzkowski and Joe Winsman both went 3-for-4, Ruzkowski with an RBI and Winsman with two. Jace Fox was 2-for-5 with three RBI.

Schalmont’s Joe Wignot and John Pascarella both drove in a pair of runs, Wignot with three hits and Pascarella with two, in an 8-5 Colonial Council win over Watervliet. Dom Toma added a pair of hits and an RBI for the Sabres (10-1, 13-1).

Watervliet (2-10, 2-12) got a double and two singles from Taylor Dockstader, while Collin Murray added two singles and an RBI.

Fonda-Fultonville’s Pat Hart singled and drove in a run for the 7-4, 10-4 Braves in a 10-inning, 3-2 win over Cobleskill-Richmondville (3-9 overall). Fonda clinched a playoff berth with the win.

Max Carey was 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI for Cohoes in an 8-1 win over Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk. Bishop Kilmer added a homer and two RBI for Cohoes (6-4, 7-8). Ravena (5-6, 5-6) was led by Vince Visone’s three singles.

Catholic Central’s got Jack Engster had two hits, two RBI and two runs in a 7-2 Big 10 win over Amsterdam. Dylan Pollock added a single, double and two RBI for the Crusaders (4-9).

The Rams (7-4) got a double and single from Kolbie Glionna.

Lance Akins hit a double and a home run for Glens Falls, driving in five runs in a 10-6 non-league win over Mohonasen. The Mighty Warriors got three RBI from John Gage on a 3-for-3 day.

Broadalbin-Perth’s Logan DeNeuville struck out 16 batters in a one-hit, 4-3 win over Mayfield. Luigi Magliocca and Noah Martin both had two singles for the Patriots.

Franklin D. Roosevelt slipped past LaSalle, 3-2, in another non-leaguer. The Cadets (8-7) got two hits from Cameron Basila.

In the Wasaren League, Greenwich topped Granville, 4-2, thanks to Lukas Whitehouse’s two-out, two-run double in the home sixth. He also singled in the game. John Barnes hit a two-run homer in the third for the 7-4, 9-4 Witches.

Ron Taylor had two singles and an RBI for 2-8 Granville.

Peter Muratorri singled, doubled and drove in three runs to help 5-5, 7-6 Hoosick Falls defeat Cambridge, 7-2.

Brandon Hodges added a single, double and a run.

Cambridge (2-10, 2-13) got a double and a run from Brady Sausville.

Hoosic Valley’s John Rooney struck out 12 batters through six innings, turned around and hit a home run in an 11-1 win over Stillwater. Matt Espey, Alex Carlo and John Lucas each had a single and a double for Hoosic Valley (10-2, 15-3). Rooney and Jake Soucy combined to no-hit Stillwater (5-6, 5-7).

In the Central Hudson Valley League, Waterford-Halfmoon doubled up Loudonville Christian School, 12-6, with Billy Matin going 3-for-3 with a double and three RBI. Kyle Hotaling was 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Nick Castle doubled twice and drove in a run.

Loudonville got two hits and two RBI from Blake Rock, and Ryan Phelps also had two hits.
