— The Duanesburg school community is rallying behind fourth-grader Jacob Galvin, who is undergoing his third round of chemotherapy, and third-grader Hailey Seamans, who is in need of a kidney donor.

The Duanesburg home varsity baseball game against Middleburgh at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday will double as a fundraiser, with the proceeds going to assist the families with medical expenses.

Jacob was diagnosed with acute myelogenous leukemia and is undergoing his third round of chemotherapy. Hailey was born with a rare metabolic disease called cystinosis. The disease causes too much of the amino acid cystine to accumulate within the organs, which can damage the kidneys, eyes, muscles, pancreas and brain.

The event will feature a bounce house, trivia games with prizes between innings, concessions, and drawings for gift cards and other items donated by local businesses and community members.

Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, as seating is limited.
