Altered flare gun draws charges in Schenectady
SCHENECTADY An altered flare gun has a city man facing a felony weapons count, authorities said.
Bruce Pechtel, 28, of 33 Kelton Ave., faces one count each of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, felonies.
Pechtel is accused of possessing the modified flare gun just before 10 p.m. Monday at the corner of State Street and Erie Boulevard, according to papers filed in court.
Pechtel also faces misdemeanor counts of obstructing governmental administration and criminal tampering.
He is accused of spitting in a police car after being taken into custody. He is also accused of refusing to answer basic questions about his identity and refusing to be fingerprinted.
