— The Lake Champlain Transportation Company says fees for crossing between Vermont and New York are going up.

The company announced Monday that the cost for a driver and a vehicle less than 19 feet long will increase to $10 on April 4. Each adult passenger will cost $4.

Other fee changes depend on the age of the passenger or size of the vehicle.

The fees do not include fuel surcharges.

The company says its rates haven't increased since 2008.

The rates will be in effect for the ferries that run between Charlotte, Vt. and Essex, N.Y. and Grand Isle, Vt. and Cumberland Head, N.Y.
