— A Schuylerville motorcyclist fled police at more than 100 mph Sunday on the Northway before getting off the highway and hitting a car, state police said.

The driver of the car suffered minor injuries in the crash. The motorcyclist, William F. Varley, 24, of 300 Route 32, Schuylerville, was taken to Albany Medical Center for his injuries and was listed in stable condition, police said.

The incident began just after 11 a.m. on the Northway near Exit 12, according to police, who gave the following account:

A trooper spotted Varley going 107 mph in a 65 mph zone on his motorcycle and tried to get him to stop. Several times Varley appeared as if he was stopping, only to take off again.

The motorcyclist left the Northway at Exit 6 and the trooper lost sight of him. A short time later, Varley crashed into the car and was thrown from the bike.

He was issued numerous Vehicle and Traffic tickets, including charges of reckless driving, speeding and having an uninspected and unregistered motorcycle. Criminal charges have not been filed as the investigation continues.
