— A Cobleskill woman allegedly stole more than $4,000 from a senior citizens group over the course of 10 months last year, police reported Tuesday.

Cobleskill police arrested 38-year-old Misty M. Wayman on Monday morning following a two-month investigation into an allegation that she had been stealing money from her employer. Wayman worked for the Schoharie County Council of Senior Citizens, Inc., a group that runs the Schoharie County Public Transportation system and operates The Everything Shoppe in two locations.

The Cobleskill Police Department subpoenaed and reviewed business and financial records that they say indicate Wayman stole at least $4,055.87 between Jan. 15 and Nov. 28, 2013. She allegedly used a business credit card for unauthorized personal purchases and took cash deposits for her own use from The Everything Shoppe.

Wayman was charged with third-degree grand larceny and first-degree falsifying business records, both felonies.

She was arraigned in Cobleskill Town Court and released on her own recognizance.
