— A Fort Plain man has been arrested after Gloversville police say he posted explicit photos of his ex-girlfriend online.

The practice of distributing what is often called “revenge porn” would be a felony under a bill that passed both houses of the Legislature earlier this month and awaits Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s signature. Instead, Carollo Emanuele, 25, faces misdemeanor second-degree coercion and fourth-degree stalking charges. He was arrested Thursday, after his ex-girlfriend reported the alleged activity to police.

The victim told police that after the photos had been posted, Emanuele texted her and threatened to post more photos if he learned that she was seeing or dating other men, police said. An officer conducted an investigation and “gathered the evidence needed” to charge Emanuele, police said.

He was arraigned in Gloversville City Court and sent to the Fulton County jail, with bail set at $5,000 cash or $25,000 bond.
