Troy man allegedly rammed police car, assaulted officer

A Troy man is accused of ramming a police car Friday night, then assaulting the officer and trying to take his service weapon. Green Island police said Officer William Rice was intentionally rammed from behind by a vehicle driven by James V. Knowles, 29, while Rice was stopped on Lower Hudson Avenue in a marked patrol car. Police said Knowles then got out of his vehicle, assaulted Rice and tried unsuccessfully to grab his gun. ...
