Death of cats in Schenectady not linked to dog fighting
SCHENECTADY Schenectady police have determined no foul play was involved in the death of cats found inside garbage bags in a vacant city lot.
Animal control officers investigated two incidents, from Monday and April 3, in which a total of three cats were found, to see if they had been used to train fighting dogs.
“The deceased animals were examined and there was no sign of trauma, puncture wounds, or any other indication that the cats had been used in dog fighting,” police said in a statement. “There is no evidence at this time that criminal activity took place.”
Police ask anyone with direct knowledge of dog fighting to contact Animal Control at 382-5200 ext. 5655.
