— State police are investigating the death of a 15-month-old girl found inside a car parked at a central New York home.

Troopers say 911 dispatchers in Herkimer County received a call around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday reporting an infant unresponsive in a vehicle parked in a driveway in the village of Dolgeville (DAHLJ'-vihl), in the Mohawk Valley 60 miles west of Albany.

Police say the baby's father had dropped off two other children at school around 8 a.m. and brought a third child to a relative's house. Troopers say the baby was in a child seat in the rear passenger side of the vehicle during that time.

Police say the father appears to have left the infant within the vehicle after getting ready and leaving for work.

The baby was pronounced deceased by the county coroner.
