Astorino attends Marchione fundraiser
SARATOGA SPRINGS Gubernatorial candidate Rob Astorino was a special guest Wednesday evening at a fundraising event for fellow Republican Sen. Kathy Marchione of Halfmoon.
The event comes after veteran educator Brian Howard, a Democrat, recently announced his run for Marchione’s 43rd state Senate District seat. Howard most recently served as interim superintendent of the Troy City School District.
Marchione’s fundraiser was held at the Brackett House on North Broadway in Saratoga Springs and cost $500 a person to attend.
About 80 people reserved a seat.
Marchione had more than $154,000 in her campaign war chest when she filed a campaign finance disclosure in January.
Astorino, who is serving his second term as Westchester County executive, has visited the Capital Region several times since announcing his run for governor against Andrew Cuomo in March.
Last month he received endorsements from local Republican lawmakers — including Marchione — during Assemblyman Jim Tedisco’s annual breakfast at the Glen Sanders Mansion in Scotia.
