Siena College president to resign
LOUDONVILLE Siena College President Fr. Kevin Mullen is resigning his position at Siena after being elected as the provincial minister of the Holy Name Province.
During his six-year term as provincial minister, Mullen will serve as a leader of the largest Franciscan community in the United States. Nearly 300 friars serve communities in the Holy Name Province, which covers the coast from Maine to Florida, including some communities in Asia and South America.
Mullen was chosen by the board of trustees to be Siena’s tenth president in 2007. Mullen says that although he sees his new opportunity as a tremendous honor, it will be bittersweet to leave his position at Siena. He also hopes that the community will continue to grow and succeed in his absence.
Mullen will be relocating to work from the Province’s headquarters in New York City. As provincial minister, he will also become a member of the board of trustees at Siena College. Information about Siena’s succession plan will be released later today.
