Severe storm to hit Capital Region today

— A severe storm is heading toward the Capital Region.

The National Weather Service in Albany issued a severe thunderstorm alert until 1 p.m. for Saratoga, Amsterdam and northern Schenectady County.

Doppler radar indicated the storm could produce quarter-size hail and winds of more than 35 miles per hour, the service said.

At noon, the storm was near Amsterdam.

It’s expected to hit Saratoga Springs by 12:35 p.m. and Glens Falls by 1 p.m.
