Man's death on Schenectady train tracks ruled a suicide
SCHENECTADY The death of a man who was hit by a train Saturday evening has been ruled a suicide, city police said today.
The incident occurred near Congress Street and 10th Avenue in the Mont Pleasant neighborhood around 8:45 p.m. as an Amtrak crew was moving the empty train to New York City.
Lt. Mark McCracken, a department spokesman, said the victim was known to police and had a history of mental health problems. He said the department’s policy is to not identify people who commit suicide.
