Cirque de la Symphonie will return to SPAC on Aug. 9
SARATOGA SPRINGS Cirque de la Symphonie will return to the Saratoga Performing Arts Center on Aug. 9 and present a new program with The Philadelphia Orchestra.
One of the hottest productions at concert halls across the U.S., Cirque de la Symphonie features world-class aerialists and former Olympians performing acrobatics, aerial feats and displays of strength choreographed to classical music.
In the new program, the acrobats will fly above the orchestra accompanied by symphonic repertoire, including “Carnival Overture, Opus 92,” “Spanish Dance” from La Vida Breve, “Ritual Fire Dance” from El Amor Brujo, “Flight to Neverland” from Hook and “Danse des Bouffons” from The Snow Maiden.
Featured artists include famed aerial duo Alexander Streltsov and Christine Van Loo; mime and juggling artist Vladimir Tsarkov; as well as contortionists, dancers and strongmen.
Streltsov, a Russian aerialist also known as "Sasha," has performed for three Russian presidents.
Van Loo has performed in the 2002 Winter Olympics, at two Grammy Awards, at the American Music Awards and Paul McCartney's European tour.
Cirque de la Symphonie is the only cirque company in the world that performs exclusively with symphony orchestras. More than 100 orchestras worldwide have featured Cirque de la Symphonie in sold-out venues.
Tickets will go on sale to SPAC members in late February and to the general public in mid-March.
