Capital Region unemployment rate drops 1.9 percent

The Capital Region’s unemployment rate was 5.4 percent in December 2013, down nearly 2 full percentage points from 7.3 percent one year earlier, according to preliminary data released today by the state Department of Labor. The Capital Region’s rate put it just behind Ithaca and the suburban counties outside of New York City for the lowest unemployment rate in the state last month.
