— Firefighters out a house fire in Rotterdam on Monday.

The fire broke out over the noon hour at 4 Groveland Ave. No injuries were reported, but the house and garage were destroyed.

The fire was first reported in the garage. The fire then is believed to have spread to the house.

The fire was declared under control by 4:30 p.m. Investigators ruled the fire accidental but would not specify a cause.

Wind gusts appeared to hamper efforts to get the blaze under control.

Smoke alternatively descended on the neighborhood and then cleared.

The neighborhood overlooks Rotterdam Square mall. Smoke could be smelled in that area, and could be seen from areas of Schenectady.
