SARATOGA SPRINGS A Saratoga Springs man with a long police record was arrested Wednesday after pulling a knife at Saratoga Hospital earlier this month, city police said.
Tracy J. Novotny, 44, of Hamilton Street, was arrested on a warrant charging him with felony third-degree possession of a weapon and second-degree menacing, a misdemeanor.
Novotny was charged Wednesday night in connection with an incident police say occurred at the hospital Jan. 11. At 5:47 a.m., Novotny was transported to Saratoga Hospital by the Saratoga Springs Fire Department for undisclosed reasons.
Just after arriving at the hospital, police said, Novotny took out a utility knife and menaced two of the fireman who had transported him. He subsequently dropped the knife after a few moments, and there were no injuries, police said. Novotny has a lengthy record of arrests for driving while intoxicated over the last 20 years and has served four prison terms, according to state records. In 1993, he injured three people when police said he drove into a crowd, serving a year in prison as a result.
