— The University at Albany women's basketball team allowed only seven field goals in a 66-36 America East Conference victory over Binghamton on Monday night.

The Bearcats hit seven of 38 shots for an 18.4 percent shooting night. The seven made shots is a season-low in the conference.

“Overall, it was a great team defensive effort, holding them down to what we made our goal today,” UAlbany coach Katie Abrahamson-Henderson said. “Everyone came off the bench and contributed, especially Imani Tate and Cassandra Edwards, who stepped up when our post players got into foul trouble.”

The Great Danes (5-0 America East, 15-3 overall) got a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds from Shereesha Richards. It was her 12th double-double of the season, a program single-season record. Tammy Phillip grabbed 16 boards as UAlbany outrebounded Binghamton, 57-29.

Margarita Rosario had five assists and five steals for the Great Danes, who forced 24 turnovers.

With a trio of assists, Sarah Royals extended her streak of games with at least one assist to 50.

“It is a record to take pride in, balancing scoring and running the offense,” she said. “It was great today to have so many players play and gain experience.”
