DWI charge filed against driver after crash knocks out power in Rotterdam
ROTTERDAM A Saturday evening accident disrupted power to a section of Rotterdam and resulted in the driver’s arrest on a drunken driving count, police said.
The accident happened around 9 p.m. on Route 5S in Rotterdam, near Pattersonville, police said. The car went off the right side of the road and struck a mailbox, fire hydrant and two utility poles before coming to a rest. Damage to the poles knocked out power to those in the area for several hours.
The driver, identified as 25-year-old Dylan Clark, of Rynex Corners Road, was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, unsafe lane use and speeding. He was not injured.
Clark is to return to court next week.
