— The Albany Devils pinned four goals on a pair of Utica goalies Friday night, beating the Comets, 8-3, in the American Hockey League.

The final tally tied the franchise’s record for goals in a game.

Albany’s Joe Whitney scored twice and moved into second on the franchise’s all-time scoring list with 131 points. Stephen Gionta is the leader with 140 (58 goals, 82 assists). Whitney has 16 goals on the season and 57 in his career. The third-year man’s 74 career assists place him third on that list, behind Gionta and Matt Anderson (83).

Mattias Tedenby had a goal and an assist, pushing his total to six goals and three assists in eight games with Albany this season. Kelly Zajac also had a goal and an assist, his goal giving Albany an 8-2 lead at 17:06 in the third period.

Defensemen Seth Helgeson and Corbin McPherson both turned in a plus-four rating on the night for Albany (22-11-3-2). Keith Kinkaid, a Union College product, made 31 saves for his 15th win of the season.

Utica (11-20-2-3) got 16 saves from starter Mathieu Corbeil on 20 shots. Joe Cannata replaced him, and stopped nine of 13 shots.
