Two women accused of shoplifting North Face and Uggs merchandise
AMSTERDAM Pictures posted on Facebook led to the arrests of two alleged local shoplifters.
On Jan. 9 two young women visited the Alpin Haus sporting goods store on Route 30 in the Town of Amsterdam. They were witnessed by staff checking out racks of The North Face and UGG apparel and footwear.
A few minutes later the store alarms went off, tripped by the women leaving with loads of The North Face and UGG merchandise. They jumped into a dark colored car and were gone.
Montgomery County Sheriff's Deputies investigated the thefts initially but didn't make any immediate arrests.
Alpin Haus posted a picture of the two suspects on a company Facebook page, which brought in a number of leads. Sheriff's investigators followed those leads Jan. 15 to Aisha Pounds of Niskayuna and Raquel M. Cridelle of Schenectady.
Both suspects were taken into custody without incident and charged with petit larceny.
They are set to appear in Amsterdam Town Court at a later date.
