Live in the Clubs

Colleen Pratt at the Van Dyck

Jazz singer Colleen Pratt will perform tonight at the Van Dyck Lounge.

Pratt has been singing professionally for 30 years, focusing on swing and jazz with a healthy sprinkling of contemporary ballads, pop and Motown.

Her band, Colleen Pratt & Friends, includes pianist John Nazarenko, bassist Tom Crudo, bassist/guitarist/vocalist Bobbie Van Detta, drummer Bob Halek and saxophonist Cliff Lyons — will perform at 7 and 10 p.m.

The Van Dyck is at 237 Union St. in Schenectady. More info: 348-7999, www.vandycklounge.com

Three local groups at Hollow Bar

Three local acts will take the mic at The Hollow Bar + Kitchen in Albany Friday night.

Singer/songwiter/keyboard player Jocelyn Arndt performs new songs from her upcoming album with her brother Christian on guitar and vocals, and a full band. Jocelyn and Christian Arndt were the core of the Fort Plain High-based group The Dependents before Jocelyn took off for Harvard after graduating last spring.

Now she’s balancing freshman year as a pre-med student in Boston with music writing, recording and performing. Friday night is a chance to catch her back on stage in the Capital Region.

Also on the bill is Saratoga-based alt-rock trio Vontus — Jake Brooks, bass and lead vocals; Johnny Gravitt, lead guitar; and Josh Morris, drums and vocals.

Myron James opens with his own blend of Americana and roots music.

The Hollow is at 79 N. Pearl St., Albany. Show starts at 8 p.m. All ages. $10. 426-8550, www.thehollowalbany.com.

Hair-A-Thon at Parting Glass

Over at The Parting Glass (40-42 Lake Ave., Saratoga Springs) Friday and Saturday, it’s a Hair of the Dog Hair-A-Thon starting at 8 p.m.

Hair-A-Thons are Hair Of The Dog marathon concerts that the band traditionally does on January weekends. (If you miss this weekend, or need a repeat, there will be more Hair-A-Thons on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 24 and 25, at The Parting Glass).

The marathon shows feature plenty of Irish music, and the crowd-pleasing “Stump The Band” segment, plus prizes for audience members. Show time is 8 p.m. Friday and 7 p.m. Saturday. Reservations are suggested by calling the pub at 583-1916. $13.
