— A man who had just gotten off a CDTA bus in Albany was struck by another bus as he crossed the street this afternoon, police said.

The extent of the man’s injuries was unknown, but he was taken to Albany Medical Center for treatment, police spokesman officer Steven A. Smith said.

The accident happened at about 2 p.m. at the corner of Washington Avenue and North Hawk Street, Smith said. The investigation was ongoing, but it appeared the man had just gotten off one bus and went to cross the street when he was struck by the second bus.

The man was treated at the scene and taken to the hospital.

I'm guessing he did just as the signs in every bus instruct passengers NOT to do: cross the street in front of the stopped bus.
-
Not only because it keeps the current bus from proceeding, but also because often people will dart out from in front of a stopped bus while another bus is passing.
-
People disembarking buses need to wait on the curb then cross the street AT THE CORNER or a CROSSWALK after the bus departs.
