— Two people were taken to local hospitals after a car accident this afternoon in Colonie, police said.

Shaun McCoy, 66, of Colonie, and Andrew J. Martin, 60, of Niskayuna, were both taken to hospitals after the accident. McCoy’s condition was unclear, police said. Martin’s injuries were not life-threatening.

McCoy’s son, Brendon McCoy, 28, of Colonie, the driver of his car, was uninjured.

The accident happened at about 3:24 p.m. at the intersection of Wade Road Extension and Forts Ferry Road, police said.

That’s when the car driven by Brendon McCoy collided with Martin’s car. The younger McCoy was taking his father to the medical building at 711 Troy-Schenectady Road for a doctor’s appointment.

Police said it appeared that the elder McCoy had a medical event while in route to the doctor’s office and just prior to the crash.

The accident remains under investigation.
