CAMPBELL, N.Y. — A 35-year-old Southern Tier woman has been sentenced to three years' probation and 200 hours community service on a charge related to a teen drinking party that led to a 16-year-old's highway death.

Kelly Campbell was charged after a state police investigation into why 16-year-old William Warrick of Painted Post was walking on a highway at 3:40 a.m. on Oct. 20. The boy was killed by a tractor-trailer on Interstate 86 in the rural Steuben (stoo-BEHN') County town of Campbell.

Troopers said Warrick was drunk when he left a party hosted by a 16-year-old girl. Campbell was charged with endangering the welfare of a child because she was at the party with her own teenage daughter.

Warrick's relatives told the court at Monday's sentencing that Campbell got off too easy.
