Sir Bills win Class B bowling title

Jimmy Marshall threw a 650 triple in the second block Monday to finish with a six-game total of 1,230 and help Johnstown win the Section II Class B bowling championship.

Morgan Ruggeri (1,178), Ben Empie (1,121) and Jay Hadcock (1,078) helped the Sir Bills to their 5,598 total, 114 pins ahead of runner-up Hudson Falls.

Marshall had the high single (254) for the day, with Lansingburgh’s Nick Pondillo getting high triple (681). Schalmont’s Alex Matuszak earned a place on the Section II team for states, shooting 1,288.

Basketball

Cougars win

Colin Davis (14), Dillan Veeder (11) and Zach Ouderkirk (10) combined for 35 points as Canajoharie beat Duanesburg, 58-40, in the WAC boys’ third-place game. Jonny Vicciarelli’s 18 points helped OESJ beat Galway, 51-40, in a WAC crossover.

Alexis Kane and Janelle Dillenbeck split 20 points as Canajoharie beat Berne-Knox-Westerlo,

42-32, in the WAC girls’ consolation game. Freshman Monique Britton had 14 for BKW.

Keenan Loder finished with 15 points to lead Cobleskill Richmondville to a 48-27 victory over visiting Cambridge in a non-league game.

Emma VanDeCar’s 20 points helped Saratoga Central Catholic beat Oppenheim-Ephratah-St.Johnsville, 58-44, in a Western Athletic Conference girls’ crossover.
