IBM to cut jobs in Hudson Valley
IBM is looking to slash more jobs at its locations in the Hudson Valley as early as the end of the month.
The Alliance@IBM, a national IBM employees’ union based in Binghamton, is reporting that job cuts are coming around February 26.
The layoffs will hit IBM’s New York facilities in East Fishkill and Poughkeepsie as well as the company’s facility in Essex, VT.
The cuts will not affect IBM employees at the SUNY College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering in Albany, according to the union.
IBM has had a decrease in sales in its hardware division, called the Systems and Technology Group, which is expected to cost the company about $1 billion.
In September IBM laid off nearly 700 employees at its facility in Dutchess County.
