— Police say a 27-year-old Albany man has drowned in a gorge in the city of Troy.

An autopsy performed Tuesday confirmed that Jean Francillon died of drowning.

Troy Fire Chief Thomas Garrett told media outlets that Francillon and his girlfriend were likely swimming or hiking in the Poestenkill Gorge when Francillon disappeared under the water. His body was found under a shale ledge.

The body was recovered around 4:30 p.m. Monday after firefighters rappelled about 200 feet down into the gorge.
