Loss of power on final approach blamed for Guilderland plane crash

The man who crashed a plane in Guilderland in June and walked away unharmed without reporting the crash told investigators the crash was caused by his plane losing power on final descent, according to a federal report. Fred Jackson, 75, told authorities that he had applied a deicing material called carburetor heat intermittently during his flight from Hamilton to Guilderland.
